LAHORE: As part of their ICC Men's T20 World Cup Australia 2022 preparations, Pakistan will play its maiden encounter against Bangladesh in the tri-nation series scheduled in New Zealand from 7-14 October.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a schedule in which the third-ranked Pakistan will play the eighth-ranked Bangladesh on October 7 and the sixth-ranked New Zealand on October 8.
Pakistan will play New Zealand on October 11 and Bangladesh on October 13, with the championship game taking place on Friday, October 14.
Pakistan's T20 World Cup campaign will begin on October 23 in Melbourne when they take on India. They will then compete in the two qualifiers on October 27 and 30 in Perth before facing Bangladesh on November 6 in Adelaide and South Africa on November 3 in Sydney.
Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, stated that the series will aid his team's preparation for the important event.
I'm happy that we'll be participating in the tri-series in New Zealand because it will allow us to travel early, get acclimated for the T20 World Cup in Australia, and polish up our preparations.
Due to a thumb injury, I was unable to play in the previous New Zealand series. I am looking forward to playing cricket in Christchurch against two quality opponents.
After finishing their seven-match T20I series against England on October 2, Pakistan would leave for Christchurch the following day, on October 4.
Pakistan will compete in the ACC T20 Asia Cup, which will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from August 27 to September 11, prior to the England series.
