The women's national team of England cruised to an 8-0 victory over Norway on Monday in a Euros group stage encounter after jumping out to a six-goal lead in the first half.
In the 12th and 15th minutes, respectively, Georgia Stanway and Lauren Hemp both scored goals.
Before the break, Ellen White and Beth Mead each scored twice to make it 6-0. They scored four goals in a 12-minute period. Mead's goals, which occurred just four minutes apart in the 34th and 38th minutes, were in between White's two goals.
In the 81st minute, Mead finished off her hat trick by putting the ball in the net after Keira Walsh's attempt was deflected by Norwegian goalie Guro Pettersen.
Norway only managed one shot on target, compared to England's 16 attempts. The hosts of the UEFA Women's European Championship controlled the ball for 61% of the game, and their pass completion rate was 89.
The Lionesses made history by being the first Women's Euros team to score eight goals in a game and the first group to secure a spot in the quarterfinals this year.
The team who defeated Austria by a slim margin last Wednesday in the opening game had a far different appearance after this victory. Mead scored the team's lone goal in that contest, and he also proved to be the game-changer.
Later on Monday, Austria bounced back with a 2-0 victory over Northern Ireland.
